In 1953, one month prior to his marriage to Marie Louise Weber, Norman Leroy Smith purchased his first crawler
tractor and founded N.L. Smith Construction.
Marie supported her husband in his venture by cooking for the men and looking after the administration of the
business, while raising their three children Luther, Eulana and Eldon.
In 1984, Luther and Eldon joined the business and N.L. Smith Construction was incorporated as N.L. Smith &
Sons Construction Ltd. It is now known as NLSS Construction Ltd.
With the passing of Norman in May 2004, Luther and Eldon continued their father’s tradition of hard work and
dedication to their customers.
In 2009, our company expanded its services with the addition of a Matting Division, providing access mats
(also called “swamp mats” ) steel ramp and rig mats.
On March 2014, NLSS moved to our new building in Nanton combining the office and shop in one location.
NLSS Construction Ltd. has earned a solid reputation over the years and we appreciate the commitment of our
staff and the patronage of our customers.
